Erica Shea and Stephen Valand are the founders of FarmSteady and Brooklyn Brew Shop, whose award-winning kits have empowered countless makers to start brewing and fermenting.

Authors of Brooklyn Brew Shop’s Beer Making Book: 52 Recipes for Small Batches and Make Some Beer: Small Batch Recipes from Brooklyn to Bamberg, they have lectured at SXSW, The American Museum of Natural History, The Fancy Food Show, Stone Barns Center and fermentation events worldwide.

They were named to Forbes 30 Under 30, and have been featured, along with their kits, in the New York Times, Food & Wine, Time Out, Real Simple, Bon Appetit, Martha Stewart Living, The View and Good Morning America.

Splitting their time between Brooklyn and the Catskills, they have far too many fermentation projects going at once. If there is such a thing.
